Definition:
Define “Journalism” in 1-3 sentences.
The telling of current events that are news worthy through newspapers, magazines, and the internet.



List and describe the six criteria of newsworthiness.

1. timliness-care about things that are recent. sports, and weather

2. promince-care about important people. famous people.

3. proximity-care about the news that is close to us. weather, traffic.

4. significence-the larger the event, and the more people who are impacted by it. earthquake in japan.

5. unusualness-we care about things that dont happen that often. murders, house fires.

6. human interest-feel good stories. baby animals.




What are the advantages of print journalism?
1. stories go much more into detail.

2. you control what you read.

3. you can take it along with you.


What are the advantages of broadcast journalism?

1. more current than print.

2. live video and sound.

3. you can get it anywhere.

Why has online journalism (convergent media) become so popular?
Because you can watch videos, or read articles. It takes the best of both and puts it on the internet.
